PAWTUCKET — With this being “Senior Night,” and prior to a monumental Division II-Central clash against unbeaten West Warwick, Tolman High mentor Mike Kayata took a few minutes to describe to the crowd the qualities of his three soon-to-be graduates.

In closing, he told the 250-plus fans on hand, “Now let's play some basketball.”

He seemed a bit nervous at the time, but – turns out – there was little reason. Man, did his Tigers deliver!

Senior center Denzel DePina recorded a double-double with 22 points and 17 rebounds and junior swing Jesse Fernandes led all scorers with 25 as Tolman pulled off a stunning 85-76 upset victory over the Wizards at the James W. Donaldson Gymnasium on Friday night.
