Tolman '9' blanks Central

Tolman's Andrew Larson went the distance on Friday as the Tigers rolled to a 5-1 win over Division II-Central leader Central High of Providence.

PAWTUCKET – Tolman High earned one of its biggest victories of the season Friday afternoon, knocking of Division II-Central leader Central with a 5-1 decision at McCoy Stadium.
Trailing by a score of 1-0, Justin Otis keyed a two-run fifth inning with an RBI double. The Tigers tacked on three more runs in the sixth, highlighted by a run-scoring single from Zach Vivieros. Andrew Larson was effective on the mound, hurling a five-hitter with five strikeouts.
“It was a very good win,” said Tolman coach Theo Murray.
With the triumph, the Tigers improved their third-place record in II-Central to 7-5. The Knights dropped to 9-2 and moved down to second place behind Juanita Sanchez (10-2), a 6-5 winner over the Wheeler School on Friday.
Tolman returns to McCoy on Tuesday when it plays host to Wheeler.
