Sydney R. Bibby, Sr.
PAWTUCKET - Sydney R. Bibby, Sr., 90 of Pawtucket died Sunday at home. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Mark and Alice (Buckman) Bibby.
Sydney lived in Pawtucket most of his life and was a WWII Naval Veteran. He served on the NTS Newport, R.I, USS Bristol, USS Greene and the USS Shoshone. He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 2 bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon Point System.
After his retirement, Sydney worked as a painter for his two sons up until 5 years ago.
He leaves four sons, David Bibby of Pawtucket, Peter Bibby of Providence, Sydney Bibby, Jr. of South Attleboro and Stephen Bibby of North Providence; a daughter, Ria Bibby-Sylvia of North Providence; two sisters Nora Jacques of Cumberland and Audrey Coogan of Florida along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Walter Bibby, William Bibby, Mark Bibby, Kenneth Bibby and Jimmy Bibby.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a graveside service at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. His life will be celebrated with calling hours prior to the funeral from 9:00 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
