Sue McConaughey, 83, of Rumford, RI died Monday, August 1, 2011, at home with her family.
Born in Toledo, OH she was the daughter of the late Dr. F. Norman Nagel and Helen (Lewis) Nagel; wife of the late W. Richard McConaughey; mother of Cindy Weinrebe, Mark McConaughey, Scott McConaughey, Helen Paradise and Julie McConaughey Polana; grandmother of Erin and Leah McConaughey, Daniel, Jessica and Richard Weinrebe, Christine, Jonathan, Mary (Swanson), Rachel, Elizabeth (Dennis) and Rebecca McConaughey, Jason and Jennifer Paradise, Marissa and Jimmy Polana; great grandmother of Caleb Pasquale McConaughey-Shank and Mia Grace Weinrebe.
A graduate of Ohio State University, a classical pianist, a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League, and for many years a teacher in the North Attleboro and Seekonk school systems, Mrs. McConaughey retired in 1998 as the owner of the Rainbow's End Quilt Shop in Bristol, RI and continued to quilt until the time of her passing.
She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Thursday followed by a memorial service open to friends and family at 6:30 PM at the Barrington Baptist Church, 25 Old County Road, Barrington, RI.
In memory of Mrs. McConaughey's staunch support of the New England Patriots and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation.
