Sr. Jeannette Joinville
MARLBOROUGH- Sr. Jeannette Joinville, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Marie Eveline of Jesus, died at the age of 98 at Marie Esther Health Center in this city on June 3, 2012. She was in the 77th year of the religious life.
She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Evelina (Lefebvre) Joinville of Central Falls, RI. She completed both her elementary and high school education at Notre Dame School in Central Falls and continued her studies at Anna Maria College, Paxton.
She left for the Novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne, Lachine, Quebec in 1932 and was professed in 1934. She spent her first year teaching in Lachine, Quebec, then returned to the United States where she taught for 40 years in schools of the New England region staffed by the Sisters of St. Anne: in Webster, Holyoke, Worcester, Ludlow, Ware, Lynn, Newton, Marlborough, MA; and in Cohoes, NY. When she retired from teaching she was in charge of the Craft Shop at St. Anne Convent, Marlborough, and continued in that capacity until failing health obliged her to retire to the Assisted Living Division of Marie Esther Health Center.
She is survived by her sisters in community, and her niece Pauline Kokota and her husband Don of San Marcos, CA and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five siblings.
She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road East. Marlborough, on Tuesday, June 5 from 2 to 4 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday June 6 at 10 :00 a.m. in the convent chapel with burial in Saint Mary Cemetery, Marlborough.
