SMITHFIELD - Sophie V. Drezek (Szczoczarz), 94, of Douglas Pike and formerly of Pawtucket passed away Wednesday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Drezek.
Born in Central Falls she was the daughter of the late George and Veronica (Matisewski) Szczoczarz. She was a resident of the Heritage Hills Nursing Center for the past 4 years previously having lived in Pawtucket most of her life.
She was employed by the International Packaging Co., Pawtucket for a number of years until her retirement and previously employed at the former Sacred Heart Church Rectory, Pawtucket.
She was a communicant of St. Leo Church now part of Blessed Pope John Paul II Parish, Pawtucket. Mrs. Drezek loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leave a son, Michael Drezek and his wife Therese of North Providence, seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Frank Drezek Jr. and his wife the late Betty Ann Drezek And Paul Drezek, and sister of the late Michael, Joseph, Frederick, Rudolph and Walter Szczoczarz.
A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Leo Church, 697 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
