Sister Pauline Fournier
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Sister Pauline Fournier (Sr. Pauline Dolores), SUSC of Madonna Manor, North Attleboro, died Monday, July 8, 2014 at the age of 89. She was born in Central Falls, RI January 15, 1925, daughter of the late John and Marie Rose (Chauvin) Fournier. In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, her niece, Theresa
Galletly and grandnieces survive her. She was predeceased by her sisters, Sr. Therese Jeanne, SUSC and Anita and her brother Hector Fournier.
Sister Pauline graduated from St. John the Baptist Academy, Pawtucket. She entered the Holy Union Sisters on August 15, 1944, and pronounced her final vows on July 26, 1952. She received her Bachelorâ€™s Degree from Boston College and M.A. from Villanova University.
Sr. Pauline taught science for nearly thirty years in high schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. When she retired from teaching she took courses in gerontology at Emmanuel College and Salve Regina University in preparation for working with the elderly. She served as a nurse at the Holy Union Sisters retirement community, St. Maryâ€™s Villa, Lowell and then in ministry to seniors at St. Lawrence Parish, Centredale, RI. Her last ministry was as administrator of the Holy Union Sisters retirement community at St. Mary Convent, North Attleboro. In 1999 she joined the Holy Union Community at The Landmark in Fall River and in 2004 she became a resident of Madonna Manor, North Attleboro. Sr. Pauline would have celebrated her 70th anniversary as a Holy Union Sister in August.
All funeral arrangements will take place at Sacred Heart Church, North Attleboro on Friday, July 11. The wake is at 10 a.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 10:30 and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Maryâ€™s Cemetery, North Attleboro. Funeral arrangements are by Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, North Attleboro, MA.
