Sister Jacqueline Lemieux

PAWTUCKET - Sister Jacqueline Lemieux (Sr. Anne Melanie), SUSC of St. Cecilia Residence, Pawtucket, died suddenly on July 13, 2012 at the age of 74.
She was born in Taunton, MA on August 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Oscar and Helen (Nolin) Lemieux. In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, her sister Marguerite Steeves and brother Paul Lemieux, nieces and nephews, and a grandniece survive her. Her brother Raymond and sister Gertrude predeceased her.
Sister Jacqueline graduated from St. Marys High School, Taunton. She entered the Holy Union Sisters in Groton, MA on September 8, 1955, and pronounced her final vows on July 27, 1964. She studied at the Sacred Heart Teacher Training School, Groton, and received a B.A. degree in History from Boston College and an M.A. in History from Indiana University. She did additional studies at Harvard University and in the Pastoral Ministry Program at Boston College.
Sr. Jacqueline taught junior high and high school classes for over 40 years. Among her elementary teaching assignments in Massachusetts were Rose Hawthorne School, Concord, Notre Dame School, Cambridge, St. Jacques School, Taunton and Sacred Heart School, Lawrence. Her high school assignments included St. Jean the Baptist and St. Raphaels Academy, Pawtucket and Bishop Feehan High School, Attleboro. Sr. Jacqueline also taught for two years at the Holy Union Convent School, Cheltenham, England. Her last teaching assignment was in the junior high school at St. Cecilia School, Pawtucket. From 2002 until the present, she has served as assistant in the Holy Union Sisters Finance Office.
All funeral arrangements will take place at St. Cecilia Church, Central Ave. Pawtucket. The wake is Tuesday, July 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Vigil Service at 11:30 and the Mass of Christian Burial at noon.
Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton, MA. Funeral arrangements are by Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, North Attleboro, MA.
