PAWTUCKET – St. Raphael Academy found its missing offensive attack on Friday during a 22-6 rout of The Prout School that sent the Saints into the Division II losers’ bracket semifinals on Sunday afternoon.
SRA, which had scored just seven runs in its first three tournament games, netted 13 runs on 11 hits in the first inning alone on Friday.
Prout, 6-10 in the regular season before scoring two major upsets in the playoffs, finally saw its Cinderella impersonation fall apart. The Crusaders could only wave at SRA’s variety of well-placed singles that went through every possible gap in Prout’s defense.
