Saints, E.P. net Division I hoop victories

Charles Correa (22) had 22 points and 8 assists on Friday night as SRA edged North Kingstown, 61-59.

NORTH KINGSTOWN --- Charles Correa followed up a solid 24-point outing earlier in the week with a game-high 22 points and eight assists on Friday night to help St. Raphael Academy claim its sixth straight Division I game, a 61-59 victory on the road over North Kingstown High.
Trevor Vasey also added eight points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots for the Saints, who lead the Division I-East with a 10-2 record and are also 12-4 overall.
The Saints, who have another crossover game on the road next Monday night at Coventry High, also received 10 points from Cesar Mejia.

Carnevale sparks Townies
SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Behind a game-best 16 points that included three 3-pointers from Joe Carnevale, East Providence knocked off South Kingstown, 48-40, Friday night. Carnevale also added and three assists as the Townies improved to 5-6 in Division I-East.
Brian Poole contributed seven points and six rebounds for E.P., which plays at North Kingstown on Monday.

Shea routs Scituate
SCITUATE – Shea High got contributions from a variety of players on Friday night while romping to a 78-53 victory over Scituate.
Senior co-captain Austin Silva led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomores Eli Itkin (14 points) and Christian Malave (13 points, 5 steals) also made a positive impact on the game for the Raiders, who improved to 8-5 in Division II and 9-7 overall this season.

Lincoln edges C.F.
CENTRAL FALLS --- Thirty-five turnovers and an ugly 17-for-62 performance from the floor proved to be Central Falls High’s undoing on Friday night and helped Lincoln High escape the Warriors’ gymnasium with a 45-42 victory.
Mike Akanji’s game-high 18 points led the way for the Lions, who entered the contest in last place in the Division II-Central standings, but improved to 5-6 in the league and 8-7 overall. Ryan Musket also scored 11 points and Matt Lague added nine.
The defeat was the fourth in five games for the cold-shooting Warriors, who still lead the Division II-North circuit with a 6-6 mark and are 7-9 overall. They were paced by Steven Vazquez’s nine points and Ryan Murray’s 10 rebounds.
