Russell J. Sweeney
PAWTUCKET - Russell J. Sweeney, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Albert T., Sr. and Edith M. (Noones) Sweeney. Russell was a US Army Korean War Veteran, having served with the 21st Field Artillery Battalion. He worked for Pawtucket Dye & Bleach and Microfibers, Inc. as a dye chemist until his retirement.
Russell leaves his former wife, Sandra Sweeney of Attleboro; three siblings, Shirley A. Sweeney, Agnes M. Verrier and Fred L. Sweeney all of Pawtucket and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Evelyn C. Atwood, Edith F. Fuller, Albert T. Sweeney, Jr., Marion A. Hamanne, Marietta M. Dwyer and Ronald J. Sweeney.
Services will be private. Flowers and calling hours are respectfully omitted. If desired, memorial gifts to the RI Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Ave., Bristol, RI 02809 or the VA Medical Center, Office 135, 830 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, RI 02908 will be appreciated.
