PAWTUCKET - Rui Freitas, age 41, of Bellmore Dr., died Monday, May 7, 2012. Born Oct. 30, 1970, in Pawtucket, he was the son of Jose and Albertina (DaRosa) Freitas of Pawtucket and grandson of the late Manuel and Josefina DaRosa and Custodio and Adelina Freitas.
A 1989 graduate of Tolman High School, Rui attended CCRI and worked in the operations department of Citizens Bank and had been a United Way volunteer. He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Church. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family in Faial, Azores and in California, where he took his cousins skydiving.
In addition to his parents, Rui leaves his aunts and uncles, Manuel (Rui's Godfather) and Rosalina Freitas of Pawtucket, Jose and Fatima DaRosa of Bristol, Josefina Rodrigues of California, Antonio DaRosa of California, and Manuel and Lucia DaRosa of Faial, Azores; and his many cousins and friends in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, California and Faial, Azores.
He was also the nephew of the late Maria Escobar and Mario Rodrigues.
His funeral will begin Friday at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Blessed Pope John Paul II Parish at St. Leo the Great Church, 697 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5-8pm.
