Rudolf A. Jaworski MD
PAWTUCKET- Rudolf A. Jaworski MD, 93, passed away Wednesday April 18, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Gladys (Duda) Jaworski.
Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late Alexander B. and Regina (Jaskiewicz) Jaworski and a stepson of the late Sophie Jaworski. He was a life long resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring he was a practicing Pediatrician for 56 years in Pawtucket. Dr. Jaworski served in WWII as a Captain in Guam with the Army Medical Corps.
Dr. Jaworski did his undergraduate studies at Brown University and graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1943. He served his residency at Rhode Island Hospital and Charles B. Chapin Hospital. He was a school physician for the city of Pawtucket for 15 years. He served as Pediatric Chief at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island for 10 years. He was a co-chairman for the Statewide Campaigns for polio and measles immunization for children of school age. These were the first in the country. Dr. Jaworski was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Rhode Island Medical Society, Memorial Hospital Medical Society, Past President of the former Holy Name Society of St. Josephs Church and Past President of the Rhode Island Polonia Scholarship Foundation.
He leaves his loving children, Judith R. Mulcahey and her husband Michael G. of Pawtucket, Rudolf A. Jaworski Jr. and his wife Susan of North Andover, MA, John J. Jaworski and his wife Nancy E. of Upton, MA and James J. Jaworski and his wife Elizabeth of Cranston. He also leaves his eleven devoted grandchildren, Alexander F. Jaworski, Jeffery, Amelia and Alexander Wolf-Jaworski, Kristen, Michael, Sarah and Matthew Mulcahey, James, Elizabeth and Jennifer Jaworski., nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alexander B. Jaworski MD.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday April 21, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church 391 High Street Central Falls at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. CALLING HOURS FRIDAY FROM 4:00 PM TO 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations to Rhode Island Polonia Scholarship Foundation 866 Atwells Avenue Providence, RI 02909 would be greatly appreciated. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
