Rose C. Asselin
SEATLE, WA - Rose C. Asselin died peacefully with family by her side on August 24, 2011 in Seattle WA.
Born the week before the big crash of 1929, Rose was a life time resident of Cumberland. The oldest of 4 children, to help her family she started working at 16 at Corning Glass in Central Falls, while she continued to go to high school during the day. She retired 46 years later, having only worked for one company.
At Corning, she made many friends and found her true love Leon. They were married 54 years and had a lifetime of happiness and adventures. In her retirement she doted over her grandchildren, visited Seattle annually and pursued her passion of collecting precious moments with the I believe in Miracle Precious Moments Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon and her grand-dog Lucy who both passed in 2010. She is survived by her sisters Alda Broadbent and Clara Anjos; children Mark (Denise) and Leann Kostek (Paul); grandchildren Erika Doctor (Mitch) and Nathan; and two Berners Noodles and Bourbon.
A celebration of Rose's Life will be held on October 15, 2011. The celebration will begin with a service at the Chapel at Notre Dame Cemetery, Dagget Ave. Pawtucket followed by brunch at Mama Spumomi's Newport Ave. Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in her memory to any local Alzheimer's Association.
