Roland P. Genereux
GLOCESTER - Roland P. Genereux, 91, passed away peacefully at home. He was the devoted husband of Therese B. (Saucier) Genereux for 67 years. Roland was born in Canada, the son of the late Emile and Albertine (Coutu) Genereux; he was a longtime resident of Pawtucket before moving to Glocester.
Roland was a Teamster Truck Driver, Local 251 for 40 years before retiring in 1980. He was also a co-owner with his wife of the T House Hair of Fashion in Pawtucket for 50 years.
He was a member of the Greatest Generation and a proud veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy as a 3rd Class Gunner's Mate.
He was an avid golfer, cribbage player and Patriot's Fan. He and Terry were talented square dancers, as well.
In addition to his wife he leaves a son Michael Genereux and Deborah Nichols of Glocester, and a daughter Michelle Genereux and Brian Algiere of Greenville; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Genereux, Katie Genereux, Jessica Lemieux, Kaitlyn Lemieux, and Amy Lemieux, a great-grandson Dwayne Gonsalves and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his BFF Gizmo.
His funeral will be held from the Darlington Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial w ill be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Church, St. John Paul II Parish at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private. The family will receive visitors prior to the funeral from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations to The Little Sisters of the Poor or the American Heart Association in his memory would be appreciated.
