DELTONA, FL - Roland L. Grenier Sr., 84, of Deltona and formally of Cumberland, RI lost his battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, August 1st home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dora (Viens) Grenier. They were married for 42 years.
Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Napoleon and Delina (Lamontagne) Grenier.
He leaves three children Elaine Pytka of Cumberland, RI; Debra A. Grenier-Anderson of Wichita, KS and Richard M. Grenier of Deltona, FL and a sister Doris Breault of Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Grenier also leaves 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Roland L. Grenier Jr. and brother of the late Ella Allard; Lucien Grenier, Beatrice Kelly, Violet (Ginger) Shalkowski and Ronald Grenier.
He was a custodian with the Cumberland School Department for 11 years until his retirement and was previously employed by the former Lumb Motors Co., Pawtucket, RI for 30 years.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 11, at 9 a.m. From the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Following he will join his late wife at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Friday, August 10, from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
