Robert E. Gendreau
SEEKONK - Robert E. Gendreau, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Norma M. (Poirier) Gendreau for fifty-eight years. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Armand and Lucy (Lagasse) Gendreau, he resided in the Hebronville section of Attleboro before moving to Seekonk in 1969.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, and a member of the 109th Signal Battalion National Guard and the Seekonk American Legion Post No. 311. He was employed by Texas Instruments until retiring in 1994 and was most recently a delivery driver for Empire Auto Parts until this past November. Bob had previously been employed by Teknor-Apex. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Attleboro Lodge of Elks No. 1014 and a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Senior Saints.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert E. Gendreau and his wife, Debbie, and a daughter, Kathleen A. Flynn and her husband, Michael, all of Pawtucket. He was the grandfather of Kerri DaGraca, Kristin and David Gendreau, Thomas, Katie and Timothy Flynn and the great-grandfather of Colyn, Matthew, Jaylee, Shea-Lynn, Calie Rae and the late Michael Robert and Savannah Rose. He also leaves a brother, Armand Gendreau and his wife, Jean; two sisters, Doris Therien and her husband, Albert, and Helen Daneau and her husband, Gerard and several nieces and nephews. A most grateful thank you to Dr. Eyal Attar, Nurse Theresa and all the staff in the Leukemia Department at Massachusetts General Hospital, and also to Dr. Steven Bensson and Nurse Linda, for their excellent care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk. Military Honors will follow. VISITATION will be held Sunday 2 - 5 p.m. at the WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 would be appreciated.
