Rita E. Kalafarski
PAWTUCKET- Rita E. Kalafarski 86, of Pawtucket passed away Tuesday October 26, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Kalafarski.
Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Julia (Plata) Niezgoda. She was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring in 1990 she was the Executive Secretary to the Director of the City of Pawtucket Planning & Development.
Rita was very active in the Church of the Holy Cross in Central Falls. She was a past president and current recording secretary of the Ladies Adoration Society, sang in the church choir and served on the Parish Committee. She loved to travel, but equally enjoyed being home tending to her garden or dominating in Jeopardy. Mostly she will be remembered by family and friends for her love of her Polish Heritage and by using her renowned cooking skills to assure family members always stayed in touch.
Mrs. Kalafarski is survived by three children, a daughter Paula R. of Pawtucket, son Edward P. and his wife Christina of North Attleboro, MA and David E. his wife Linda of Cumberland, RI. She is also survived by four grandchildren who had always meant the world to her, Laura, Edward, Andrew and Christopher.
Her funeral will be held Friday October 29, 2010 at 8:30 AM from the Karol A.Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Mass of Christian burial in The Church of The Holy Cross 320 High Street Central Falls. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. CALLING HOURS THURSDAY FROM 4:00 PM TO 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Seekonk.
