NORTH ATTLEBORO - Richard A. "Dick" Kelley, 72, of Avery Street, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of Jeanne T. (Ringuette) for over 50 years.
Born July 12, 1939 in Pawtucket RI, he was the son of the late Frank and Claudia (Fontaine) Kelley. He was a resident of North Attleboro, MA for over 50 years. "Grumpy" as he was known by many was an avid fisherman and camper. For almost 19 years he worked at Shaw's Supermarkets in the Attleboro area. Known by many there as the "Mayor of the Deli/Seafood", Dick loved to entertain the kids and many customers each day.
Dick was a Loan Officer for Attleboro Pawtucket Savings Bank and prior to that at Citizens Bank. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Business from Johnson and Wales in 1984. He was a Town Hall Representative in North Attleboro for Ward 2. Like every good Irishman he was a member of Le Socit Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the French Club and communicant of L'Eglise de Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart Church) in North Attleboro. Dick was a Veteran and served in the Air Force at Westover Air Force Base.
He is survived by his children Michael, Alan, Lisa and Maureen Kelley; grandchildren Sean and Christopher Kelley; brothers Daniel and Robert Kelley and over 30 nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 3, 2012 in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday May 4, 2012, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 a.m. Burial will with military honors will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday at 3 p.m.
