Richard J. Herchel
PAWTUCKET - Richard J. "DICK" Herchel, 74, passed away at Woonsocket Health Centre on Saturday November 17, 2012, of Alzheimer's Disease. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket he was a son of the late Wawrzyniec and Bronislawa Herchel.
Before retiring in 1999, Dick had been employed by the State of Rhode Island as a warehouse worker for 20 years. He was a member of Council 94, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). He served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years from 1958 to 1960.
He leaves one brother, Zygmunt "ZEKE" Herchel and his wife, Sophie, of Cumberland. Besides his brother he leaves five nieces, Elaine Devonis of Cumberland, Barbara Holt and her husband Thomas and Linda Sherman and her husband Jay, all of Lincoln, Mary Ann Murray of Warren, Kathleen Biagioni of Florida and Mitchell Krzyzek and his wife Denise Of Middletown. He also leaves many great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Wanda Devonis, Irene Krzyzek, Bronislaus "BENNY" Herchel and Zygmunta (ZIGGY) Iwanycky.
His funeral will be held Saturday November 24, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church 391 High Street Central Falls at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
