PAWTUCKET — Frustrated by delays he experienced in getting the city to pick up bulky waste items on his street, Mark Poirier tried a new way to get someone's attention in City Hall: he created a website titled “Shame on you, Mayor Grebien.”
On it, Poirier has posted photos of a sofa, a TV and pile of clothing that he said have sat in front of three houses on Mendon Avenue for over two weeks. He also outlined his recent contacts with the city involving the trash, which included phone calls he says he placed to the Sanitation Department and Zoning Departments on July 13 and 17, and a hand-delivered letter to Mayor Donald Grebien's office on July 19.
Poirier posted. “I hope you're not shocked to find that, as of this writing, July 24, 2012, no results! Shame!! Shame on you, Mayor Grebien!” He added, “Realize this folks: This is the service you get for your newly-increased stratospheric real estate taxes!!” On another page, he wrote that if the situation isn't addressed soon, “I'll be writing in 'Mickey Mouse' on my voting card, knowing that you're running unopposed.” He signed off as “A very unhappy constituent.”
