PAWTUCKET - Raymond R. Degre, 71 of Pawtucket died Friday at the Miriam Hospital surrounded by his wife and seven children. He was the husband of Ruth (St. Jean) Degre.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Hormisdas and Jeannette (Fontaine) Belanger, and stepson of Norman Belanger. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a security guard for Stern Leach Precious Metals in Attleboro.
Besides his wife, Raymond is survived by three sons, Raymond Degre and his wife Teresa of Deltona Florida, Robert Degre and his wife Elaine of Norwood, MA and Roy Degre and his wife Stacy of Barrington, RI; four daughters, Robin Duhamel and her husband Peter of Cumberland, Rena Tanguay and her husband Raymond of Pawtucket, Rhonda Tougas and her husband Thomas of Cumberland; and Renae Botelho and her husband John of Cumberland; his brother, Roger Degre and his wife Patricia of Bellingham, MA, and 13 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was the father of the late Roland Degre and brother of the late Eugene Degre.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket. His life will be celebrated with calling hours prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
