Raymond A. Allard, 65, of Brooksville, FL., formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on December 31, 2011 at the HPH Hospice Care Center. Mr. Allard was a retired school teacher and administrator from the Pawtucket School Department. He worked for 35 years at William E. Tolman High School. He was treasurer of both the Alliance Credit Union and Local 930 of the Pawtucket Teachers Union for many years. He served in the RI Air National Guard from 1969-1981 and was the first "Airman of the Year" in RI. He was an avid ham radio operator, obtaining his amateur license in 1959. His call sign was W1RAA (formerly K1MFZ). He was a member of The Spring Hill Amateur Radio Club.
Mr. Allard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon D. (Stonely) Allard, K1SDA. He was the father of the late Catherine S. Allard. He is also survived by his son, Andrew R. Allard, K1MFZ and his fiance Lynn Campana-Lee of Prudence Island, RI; daughters Christine C. Allard, K1CCA of Cranston, RI and Sherri E. Allard of Ormond Beach, FL.; granddaughter, Lauren A. Allard who learned Morse code from her Grampy.
He was the son of Peggy (Cloutier) Allard of Pawtucket, RI and the late Roland J. Allard, K1NII. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roland and a sister, Deborah. He is survived by siblings Carolyn Pinto of Central Falls, RI; Maryann and Steve Cooper of Pawtucket, RI; James Allard, KB1PXG of Pawtucket, RI; David and Jody Allard, N1DA and N1TEA of Bellingham, MA; Charleen and Dennis Jenkins of Lincoln, RI; and Steven Allard of East Providence, RI.
A gathering will be held on Tuesday January 10, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 at Covenant Congregational Church Hall, 143 Glenwood Ave., Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: HPH Hospice Care Center, 12242 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613. Online memorial at
