WOONSOCKET - Ramona J. Fisher, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18 in her home at 238 Second Avenue. She was born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Raymond and Marion (Salley) Fisher. Ramona retired from The Woonsocket Call in 1997, after 47 years as a proofreader and advertising clerk. She is survived by her son, David Fisher, and many close friends whom she considered family.
In her younger years, she was active in The Newspaper Guild, played a part in the establishment of Woonsocket’s first animal shelter, and the construction of Costa Park. She will be fondly remembered for her seemingly boundless kindness, generosity, community spirit, and sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m., at the First Assembly of God located at 420 Mendon Road in Woonsocket.
