Ralph Paul Folan
NORFOLK, VA - Ralph Paul Folan, 55, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, May 6, 1956. He was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Asermely) Folan.
A loving husband and father, Ralph was a firm believer in providing and sacrificing for his family. In 1973, he joined the United States Navy, where his passion for submarines emerged. He devoted himself to the Navy and made his way through the ranks. During his time in the Navy, he developed a love of cooking, which he shared with his fellow servicemen, family and friends. After dedicating 30 years of service, as a Chief Petty Officer he retired in 2004 with an honorable discharge due to his health. As a veteran, Ralph would have proudly continued to serve his country.
Ralph, a loving husband and proud father, is survived by his wife of 21 years, Glendale Folan and his children, Whitney Folan, Shamekia and husband Tasho Marsh, Joseph Pinckney and wife Keshia, Ira Pinckney and wife Nikayla. He was the devoted brother of Ellen Mulkerrins, Edward, John, Carol, Robert, Darlene, Kenneth, Patrick and Kevin Folan, Marjorie Fortin, and the late Francis Folan Jr., Barbara Folan and Daniel Folan. Five grandchildren, Daxton, Mia, Giovanni, Reagan and Ryan, and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, Saturday, November, 26 at 8 a.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
