On Friday morning, April 1, 2011 during the "April Friends" National Bullying Day sponsored by the 2nd Annual RI Third Eye YCW Youth Leadership Conference at the URI Feinstein Providence Campus, Cumberland's Joseph L. McCourt Middle School SMAD(Students Making A Difference) group members eighth graders Marissa Anjos, left, and Allison Smith, right, holding signs and accompanied by their SMAD Adviser health teacher Sheila DiOrio, to Smith's right, lead the McCourt SMAD group down Washington Street in downtown, RI from the Feistein Providence Campus to the Statehouse for an anti-bullying rally. At the Youth Leadership Conference to help stop senseless bullying, cyber-bullying, violence, intimidation and abuse, members from the McCourt SMAD group performed a jumping rope skit and hosted a workshop on building community in your school.
