LINCOLN - A 23-year-old woman was struck by a hit and run driver Saturday night and police are asking the public for help in finding the driver who hit her.
According to police reports, the unidentified woman and a male companion were crossing the road in a designated crosswalk in the area of Front Street near Franklin Street at 9:50 p.m. when the woman was struck by a car that was traveling eastbound on Front Street.
The woman suffered significant injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she was listed in stable condition Sunday.
Police said the car that hit the woman is a light colored newer sedan, possibly a Hyundai or Toyota, and should have damage to its front light assembly.
Police are working on obtaining any video footage from surveillance cameras from the businesses around the area, as well as following up with eye witnesses.
