Police probing violent robbery

August 16, 2012

PAWTUCKET — Pawtucket Police are investigating a report of a violent home invasion and robbery that occurred in an apartment on Ivy Street early Thursday morning.
According to Major Arthur Martins, the apartment was occupied by a young couple and their 11-month-old daughter. The victims told police that shortly before 2 a.m., they were awoken by the sound of their door being “kicked in.” The couple said that three males entered the apartment, and that two of the men were carrying firearms and one held a pipe. All three were wearing black knit caps, black hooded sweatshirts and black jeans and had bandanas covering their faces.
The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash from the couple. At one point during the attack, one of the suspects fired a gun which was pointed toward the ceiling, Martins said. The male victim was also reportedly struck in the back of the head with a firearm. He sustained a laceration which required medical treatment. The suspects then fled the area on foot.
The female and the young girl were not injured. Also, the bullet that was fired inside the couple's apartment did not injure anyone who lived in the apartment above, Martins said.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective Hans Cute at 401-727-9100.
