Peter W. Malloy
PAWTUCKET - Peter W. Malloy, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Peter J. and Juliette (Sequin) Malloy. Peter was a United States Army veteran, having received the Purple Heart from injuries sustained in the Korean War. He was a proprietor of P&L Fruitland for many years and most recently was the manager of the Rhode Island Bureau of Investigation until his retirement. Peter was one of the founding members of the Pawtucket Slaterettes Softball League and he enjoyed model railroading and attending local Native American tribes Powwows.
He was the beloved father of Karen Ouellette of Riverside, Patricia and Christine Malloy both of Pawtucket, Yvette Thurber of North Providence and the late Linda Martin and Julie Malloy; brother of Robert Malloy of Sterling, VA, Patricia Motyka of Riverside, Julie Capron of Pawtucket and the late James Malloy; dear friend of Patricia Merrill of Pawtucket; grandfather of 18; great-grandfather of 8 and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the CHEETHAM Funeral Home, 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. VISITATION will be Sunday 2 - 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
