Pawtucket man charged in burglaries

December 30, 2013

PAWTUCKET – A Pawtucket man has been arrested by Warwick and Cumberland police and charged with a series of house breaks in Warwick.

George Bouffard, 56, of 49 Sumner St., Pawtucket, was arrested Friday at 11 a.m. in Cumberland by Warwick detectives and charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering. The police say the motive for the break-ins was "narcotics dependency."

According to a Warwick police news release, detectives began investigating after a break-in at a home on Dec. 12 on Falcon Avenue. A neighbor's home surveillance system captured an image of a vehicle that was potentially involved in the break-in.

Additional investigation identified the vehicle, and undercover surveillance tracked the vehicle and driver to places where break-ins were happening and to a pawn shop, according to the police.
The Cumberland police were summoned and assisted in the arrest on Friday.

Warwick police ask that anyone with information related to the investigation call them at (401) 468-4233.
