During rehearsal of "A Kwnazaa Song" by Mixed Magic Theatre located at 171 Main Street in downtown Pawtucket, RI on Monday night, December 27, 2010, Raidge(Providence, RI), sitting in front, plays a West African hand drum called a "djembe", as standing left to right, Mishell Lilly(Providence, RI), Mixed Magic founder Riccardo Pitts-Wiley(Pawtucket, RI) who is holding his six month old granddaughter nicknamed "Juice", Jeremiah Andrade(10yrs)(Pawtucket, RI) and Mixed Magic artistic director Jonathan Pitts-Wiley(North Providence, RI) sing "A Middle Passage Love Song" which the men and women sang on the slave ship to keep strong. "A Kwanzaa Song" is Ricardo Pitts-Wiley's epic tyale of the spirit child Azu and his journey from Africa to America. Through song and dance, follow Azu on his mission to preserve the seventh principles of Kwanzaa and deliver a gift to Africa's stolen people. "A Kwanzaa Song" has a special two-evenings performance, Wednesday, December 29th and Thursday, December 30th at 7:30pm.
