SEEKONK - Normand J. Daigle, 91, died peacefully at Life Care Center of Attleboro, on Monday, January 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa (Pelletier) Daigle for 68 years prior to her death on December 14, 2013. Normand was born in Central Falls, the son of the late Joseph O. and Antoinette (Fortier) Daigle. He retired after 40 years as a supervisor with Valley Gas, now National Grid; previously he was a plumber. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II in the Philippines. He was an avid nature enthusiast who enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing. He was a talented painter and musician and in his youth he was a member of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Boys Club Band. He was active in the parish of St. Stephen's Church, Attleboro, where he was a collector and usher. He was a major collector for Catholic Charities and the building fund for Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro.
He leaves a daughter Janet Leaver and her husband Don of Topsham, ME; a son Michael Daigle and his fiance Eileen Emond of Seekonk; a sister Lucy Baris of Central Falls, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rita Lizotte and Loretta Fontaine.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Darlington Mortuary, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery, S. Main Street, Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial collation to celebrate his life at Morin's Restaurant, 16 S. Main Street, Attleboro following the committal service.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in Normand's memory would be appreciated.
