Normand C. Lesieur
CENTRAL FALLS - Normand C. Lesieur, 89, passed away peacefully at Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island on Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa (Morrissette) Lesieur for 63 years until her death in 2007.
Normand was born in Woonsocket, the son of the late Henry and Delima (Guevrement) Lesieur and lived his entire life in the Blackstone Valley. He was an iron worker and certified welder for Brassard Steel, Khoury Steel Erection, Nixon Engineering, Gilbane Construction, and Regan Steel. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 37 Providence.
Normand was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Asia Pacific Theater during World War II for which he received the Campaign Ribbon with 6 Stars. He was Post Commander of the Eugene T. Lefebvre Post 1271, Central Falls, a member of American Legion Post 14 Cumberland, and the National Home of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He leaves two sons, Kenneth (Jody) Lesieur of Greenville, RI and Alan (Lynne) Lesieur of Plainville, MA, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dear friend Doris Strachan. He was the father of the late Dennis Lesieur and brother of the late Marie Stone, Doris Blanchette, Alice Dixon, and Leo Lesieur.
His funeral will be held from the Darlington Mortuary, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mathieu's Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Community, 1030 Dexter Street, Central Falls, at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket. Calling hours in the funeral home on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
