Michael W. Newman
Michael W. Newman, 56 of Pawtucket died Tuesday, September 27 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Central Falls he was the son of the late Henry and Lillian (Shaw) Newman. He was a Pawtucket resident his entire life.
Prior to his retirement in 2004 Michael was a Deputy Sheriff for the Superior Court in Providence. He coached and managed the Darlington American Little league; he was the President of Local 2392 of Council 94 AFLCIO. He was on the Executive Board for Local 2392 for 11 years. Prior to his death he was Chaplin of FOP 38, Trustee for Providence County Deputy Sheriff's Association and a Member of the Knights of Columbus Delaney Council 57. Michael was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Pawtucket where he devoted his time and talents to his church family, especially at the flea market.
Michael is survived by a son, John Newman of Lincoln; a daughter, Jennifer Carlucci of Cranston; his companion, Diane Riendeau of Pawtucket; a brother, Richard Newman of Coventry; and a sister, Nancy Leite of Riverside.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Child of Jesus Church, Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. His life will be celebrated with calling hours on Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
