Michael J. Szczoczarz Sr.
REHOBOTH - Michael J. Szczoczarz Sr., 95 of 420 Minerva Ave., passed away Sunday in Home & Hospice Care of RI, Providence. He was the husband of Mary H.(Matisewski) Szczoczarz.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late George and Veronica (Morytko) Szczoczarz. He resided most of his life in Cumberland.
He was a steel worker employed by the former Newman Crosby Steel Co., of Pawtucket, retiring in 1977. Mr. Szczoczarz enjoyed gardening, reading and most of all being with his family.
Beside his wife he leaves two daughters; Carolyn Raso and her husband Joseph of West Greenwich; Helen LeBlanc and her husband Cal of St. Petersburgh, FL. Two sons; Michael J. Szczoczarz Jr., and his wife Deborah of Rehobeth, MA and James Szczoczarz of Cumberland. One sister Sophie Drezek of Pawtucket and four grandchildren; Michael J. Szczoczarz III, Jason S. Szczoczarz, Matthew Szczoczarz and Laura Szczoczarz. Three great-granchildren; Ashley and Kazzie Szczoczarz and Paige Wilcox. He was the grand father of the late Gene Brouillette and brother of the late Joseph, Frederick, Rudolph and Walter Szczoczarz.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
