PAWTUCKET â€” Staffing reductions in several municipal departments could occasionally result in some slower response times or limitations on city services, announced Mayor Donald Grebien.
The mayor said that several recent retirements, including those of some longtime department heads and clerks in the City Clerk's office, coupled with the need for the administration to keep a tight rein on expenses are the primary reasons for the staffing shortage. It is also the season when employees are taking more vacations, which is compounding the problem of some departments being left short-handed.
