Mayor Diossa, six new CF councilors sworn in at inaugural ceremony

January 7, 2014

CENTRAL FALLS – Declaring that “We have come too far to turn back now,” Mayor James Diossa was sworn in for his first full term in office on Monday, pledging to “continue the momentum, the positive energy that is flowing through Central Falls.”
When he became mayor last year in a special election to replace a predecessor who was jailed on a federal corruption charge, Diossa told a small crowd in the high school auditorium, “This was a city engulfed in a painful and costly bankruptcy with no end in sight. Today, Central Falls has emerged from that process stronger and more vibrant than ever, and we are busy building a brighter, sustainable future for all our residents while ensuring that our city’s future is secure.”
