PAWTUCKET - Mary V. (Gariepy) O'Malley of Monticello Road, Pawtucket left us to be with God forever on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Born on December 24, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Farley) Gariepy. Mary lived a full and vibrant life filled with laughter, work, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family festivities, knitting and church activities including her weekly money counting duties. She loved visiting with her many friends, 5:00 Mass on Saturdays and the mute button on the remote. Mary was a communicant of St. Teresa Church, Pawtucket and a woman of faith. She was lifted through life by her unshakable faith in God, her love of family and a delicious sense of humor which made her wry comments and observations about life priceless.
She was a graduate of University of RI, class of 1946 and was listed in the Who's Who of College Women. She was a bookkeeper for the former Holiday Inn of Bristol Place, Attleboro, retiring 15 years ago.
Surviving are her children Margaret H. Donovan and her husband John of CT, Kate M. O'Malley of CA, Mark J. O'Malley and his wife Tammy of CT, J. Scott O'Malley of CA and Mary Ann O'Malley of CT; her grandchildren, Eric, John, Dan, Julie, Rob, Jeff, Shannon, Sean, Kevin, Josh, Lauren and Tori; great grandchildren, Riley and soon to arrive Averie, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. O'Malley, her son Patrick and her brother Fred Gariepy.
A funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from the CHEETHAM MORTUARY, INC., 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery,Pawtucket.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4-8 PM in the funeral home.
