Mary C. Alves
CUMBERLAND- Mary C. Alves, 73 of Cumberland passed away Friday in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Jose L. Alves.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Celestino S. and Evangalina (De JC deMatto) Paiva. She was also the step daughter of the late Marie Paiva.
She resided in Cumberland for over 40 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Mrs. Alves was employed as a credit manager for American Insulated Wire until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland. Mary was was an avid Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics fan; she was an avid duckpin bowler, piano player and reader. She also enjoyed doing crafts and crochet. She was active in her West High School Class of 1957.
She is survived by one daughter, Sabrina Boulay and her husband David of North Attleboro; two sons, Jose L. Alves Jr. and Janice Curtis of South Attleboro and Ricardo Alves of Cumberland; one brother Alfred Paiva of Lakeland, FL., two sisters Margaret LeFort and Beatrice Vaillancourt both of Pawtucket; six granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late David Paiva, Irene Curran, Patricia Taylor and Florence Bell.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Monday from 5 to 8 PM. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
