BEVERLY, MA - Marion D. (Thurston) Jackson, 97, of Beverly, formerly of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, died peacefully Wednesday night September 7, 2011 at Salem Hospital with her devoted granddaughters at her side. She was the loving wife of the late Harry A. Jackson.
Born in Chelsea she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Johnson) Thurston. Marion was educated in the Chelsea school system and later moved to Winthrop where she raised her family. After her children were grown Marion moved to Pawtucket, RI where she was employed by the American Greeting Card Company for several years. Most recently and prior to her retirement, at 94 years of age, Marion had been employed by Life Time Medical Company of Pawtucket as a Secretary.
Marion was a devoted Christian and loved to attend church activities and was a member of the Primitive Methodist Church in Cumberland, RI and also Woodlawn Church of Pawtucket where she played the piano and organ.
Marion adored cats and adopted many through out her life.
Surviving her is a son Reverend John Davis, Pastor of Indian Creek Baptist Church, and his wife Kathy of Mill Run, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren Sherri Lubas and her husband Tom, Debbie Girard, Andy Davis and his wife Jessica, Pam Hyatt and her husband Jeremy; three great-grandchildren Michelle Lubas, Melissa Lubas, Alyssa Warren, two great-great-grandchildren Elias Gonsalez and Eliana Otero. She was also the mother of the late Margaret E. "Peggy" Davis, sister of the late Emma Hughes and great-grandmother of the late Michael Lubas and aunt of the late Dorothy Chambers. Marion will also be greatly missed by her former employer and friend Beverly Munyon of Rhode Island and her many friends from church.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd. Salem on Saturday at 11:00 A. M. Relatives and friends invited. A visitation will also be held, Saturday, prior to the funeral from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. For more information or to leave a condolence please visit www.gonetfuneralhome.com.
