Marie A. Lagesse
PROVIDENCE - Marie A. (Sangiovanni) Lagesse, 64 died Friday, October 4th at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Steven Lagesse and they were married for 40 years. Born in Providence she was the daughter of Anna (Pesce) Sangiovanni and the late Peter Sangiovanni.
Prior to her retirement in 2005, Marie worked as a school teacher for the North Providence School Department.
During the past 15 years, Marie volunteered many hours alongside her husband Steve for charities sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Her favorites were the youth programs such as; Scholarship, Americanism Essay Contest, Soccer and the Elks National Free Throw Contest, also known as Hoop Shoot. The family has started the Marie A. Lagesse Memorial Scholarship Fund to be administered by the R.I. State Elks Association.
Beside her mother and husband, Marie is survived by her daughter Jennifer Isherwood and her granddaughter Isabel Isherwood of Johnston.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church, Slater Street, at 10:00 a.m. Her life will be celebrated with calling hours on Thursday from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
