Maria R. Neves
CUMBERLAND - Maria R. Neves, 87, of Clark St. passed away Sunday in the Oak Hill Nursing Home, Pawtucket. She was the beloved wife of the late Joaquim A. Neves.
Born in Taunton she was the daughter of the late Abilio and Maria (dos Anjos) Pires. She resided in Cumberland most of her life.
She was a weaver employed by the Arbeka Webbing Co., Pawtucket for 18 years retiring in 1988. She was previously employed by the Hope Webbing Co., for 22 years.
Mrs. Neves was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. She was also a member of the Uniao Portuguesa Beneficente, Pawtucket.
She leaves four children, Joyce Neves of Cumberland, Raymond Neves and his wife Ana of Lincoln, David Neves and his wife Janice of Cranston, Paul Neves and his wife Terry of Cumberland; one sister, Rose Saraiva, and a brother, Daniel Pires, both of Cranston. Mrs. Neves also leaves seven grandchildren, Katherine Neves of Middletown, Kristin and James Chartier of Northborough, MA, Carlene, Jennifer and Jocelyn Neves all of Cumberland, and Amanda Neves of Cranston. She was also the sister of the late Antonio Pires, half sister of the late Abilio Pires and step sister of the late Antonio Almeida.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
