CUMBERLAND - Maria (Loureiro) Albuquerque, 92 of Heroux Blvd., died Friday at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Antero Albuquerque.
Born in Esmolfe, Portugal she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Barbosa) Loureiro. She came to this country in 1948 settling in Cumberland and moving to Central Falls in 1954 and returning to Cumberland in 2004.
She was employed at various area textile mills for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Albuquerque was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and also a former member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Uniao Continental, Lodge 12, Cumberland.
She leaves two daughters, Alice Albuquerque with whom she made her home and Diane Bettencourt of Attleboro. One step daughter, Esperanca Martins of Cumberland. One granddaughter, Gina Heaney of West Bridgewater, MA and two great grandchildren, William and Madeline Heaney. Also two step granddaughters, Emilia Cooney of Cumberland and Leslie Macksoud of Lincoln. Three step great granddaughters and one step great great grandson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Albuquerque was also the sister of the late Daniel, Antonio, Joao, Jose, Artur and Jorge Loureiro and the late Alice Silveiro. She was also the step mother of the late Mary Lopes.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
