CUMBERLAND - Margarida Carvalho (Carreiro), 97, of Broad St. passed away Tuesday in the Pawtucket Health and Rehabilitation Center, Pawtucket. She was the beloved wife of the late Jacinto Carvalho.
Born in Jamestown, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Augusta) Carreiro. She resided in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland for most of her life.
She was employed by the International Packaging Co., Pawtucket for many years until her retirement and had previously been employed by the Central Braid Co., Central Falls.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Mrs. Carvalho leaves four sons, Jose and Luiz Carvalho of Cumberland; Alonso Carvalho of Attleboro and Edward Carvalho of Suwanee, GA and three daughters, Maria Senra of Cumberland; Maria Galligan of Rehoboth and Dora Graveline of Attleboro. She also leaves 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
