PAWTUCKET - Manuel Prata, 76, of Fortin Avenue, died July 6, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket. He was the husband of Mary (McCann) Prata to whom he had been married for fifty-five years. He was born on Pawtucket, the son of Manuel and Julietta (Tavares) Prata.
After serving his country in the U.S. Army, Manuel worked as a machinist for Narragansett Wire in Pawtucket and for the Pawtucket School System.
Besides his wife, Mr. Prata leaves his two sisters, Elvira Lapointe, Emilia Botelho and her husband Jack, a sister-in-law Caroline Draper and her husband William and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Achilles and Antonio Prata and sister Lee LaGue.
Mr. Prata's funeral service will be held Saturday, July 9th at 10:00 am in the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Pine Street, Pawtucket at 11:00 am to which relatives and friends are invited.
