Loretta G. Cooper
CUMBERLAND - Loretta G. Cooper, 100, formerly of Diamond Hill Road, passed away in the Hebert Nursing Home on Thursday, April 21, 2011. She was wife of the late George R. Cooper.
Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Polydore and Emeline (Couture) Lajeunesse. She was a life-long Cumberland resident.
Mrs. Cooper was employed for several years as a clerk for the former Ann & Hope Stores of Cumberland.
She was a member of St. Aidan Seniors, and a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, and most recently St. Aidan Church.
She leaves three sons, Leslie Cooper of Granby, VT, Kenneth Cooper and Gordon Cooper, both of Englewood, FL; two daughters, Ellen Tortolani of Coventry, and Gladys Kavanagh of Chepachet, RI; fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Barbara McAlice, and sister of the late Beatrice Meehan and Irene Ryan.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland with a visitation beginning at 9 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, 1403 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Rhode Island Avenue, Johnston. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Hebert Nursing Home, Activities Fund, 180 Log Road, Smithfield, RI 02917.
