Lionel E. Roy
PAWTUCKET - Lionel "Uncle Pint" E. Roy, 96, of Celebration, Florida, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Stella M. (Lemieux) Roy.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Emery H. and Regina A. (Juaire) Roy, he resided in Pawtucket most of his life before moving to Florida in 2008. A highly decorated World War II U. S. Army veteran, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star and the French Legion of Honor award. Pint was employed by the Joseph M. P. Ott Company, Pawtucket, for thirty-three years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Celebration Veterans Club and a life member of the AMVETS and DAV. The Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics lost a diehard fan and his friends lost a man that can never be replaced. A votre sant! Uncle Pint leaves nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late Ella Y. Parfitt, Doris J. Sanville, Wilfred E. and George L. Roy.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
