Leo J. Fugere
PAWTUCKET - Leo J. Fugere of Pawtucket died on April 26, 2013. He was the loving husband of Jeanne (Anderson) Fugere.
Mr. Fugere was born in Central Falls, the son of the late Philias Fugere and Beatrice (Picard) Fugere. He was a United States Air Force Veteran where he earned the rank of Tech Sergeant. He received his degree in Business from the Johnson and Wales University.
Leo worked for the United States Post Office as a Supervisor for nineteen years, Coffee Express in Pawtucket for a number of years and the Pawtucket Credit Union. He was involved in St. Teresa's Church, Pawtucket in a variety of capacities, serving on the Parish Council, a Eucharistic minister, taught CCD, and helped run the church festival for a number of years.
Leo was a longtime member of the Pawtucket Lions Club. He was the Past President of the club, a two time recipient of the Lions Club Melvin Jones Award, and was the Zone Chairman for the district. He was a member of the Pawtucket Fireworks Committee and the Pawtucket Historical Association.
Besides his wife Jeanne, Leo is survived by his children, Michael Fugere and his wife Audrey and Elizabeth Boynes and her husband Richard. He also leaves his brothers, Henry Fugere, Armond Fugere, and Rene Fugere, his sisters, Theresa Hills and Irene Charrette. Leo had five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Doris Gagnon, Hortense Labranche, Lillian Mayer, Gerald Mayer, Edward Fugere, Marion Fugere, Jeannette Perron, Philias Fugere and Florence Fugere.
The funeral for Leo will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 am. His burial will be with full Military Honors in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
