Kenneth E. Milligan
CUMBERLAND - Kenneth E. Milligan, 83, of Hardwick Street, passed away Monday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the husband of Theresa (Malito) Milligan and they had been married for 64 years.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Alva and Grace Louise (Wright) Milligan. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.
Mr. Milligan is a retired Corporal of the Cumberland Police Department where he served the community for 23 years where he was affectionately known as "Officer Friendly" He was very active in the department and was a founding member of the police motorcycle unit.
He was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church. Among many interests, he loved to spend time with his family. He was active in his children's childhood years serving as a Babe Ruth and a Senior Babe Ruth Coach.
Besides his beloved wife, he leaves his two sons Alan Milligan and his wife Deborah of Cumberland and Kenneth Milligan of Pascoag, one daughter Arlene Nunn and her husband Roy of Cumberland, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Doris Milligan.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at 10 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to VNS of Greater Rhode Island, Home Hospice Care of Rhode Island or The Historic St. Joseph Church.
