Josephine A. Moore
PAWTUCKET - Josephine A. Moore, 87, of Mt. Vernon Boulevard, Pawtucket, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at The Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket.
She was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Leo and Margaret (Benn) Paine. Josephine graduated from the Memorial Nursing program in 1944 and was a WWII Army Nurse serving her country at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC. She then worked as a Registered Nurse at first The Memorial Hospital and then the Miriam Hospital in Providence.
Mrs. Moore leaves two daughters, Patricia C. Matthies and her husband Joel of Aurora, CO and Nora B. Moore and her husband David Yuells of Pawtucket and two sisters, Mary Rebeck and Barbara Paine and a sister-in-law, Diana Paine. She is predeceased by her brothers George and Raymond Paine and her sister Virginia St. Pierre.
The funeral for Mrs. Moore will be Friday at 9:00 am from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors. The calling hours will be Thursday 4-7 pm.
